Prefit Barrel Work

Combine this with any HCA barrel to simplify your custom rifle experience.  HCA has been chambering barrels since 2012.  Each reamer designed by HCA with more accurate freebore and cartridge geometry.  Every barrel is “dialed in” to within .0001″ of runout at the throat using a proprietary chuck system on our dedicated chambering CNC lathe, then threaded and reamed to perfect headspace every time.

Prefit labor includes 5/8:24 muzzle threads (.600″ long) and an 11″ target crown and knurled steel thread protector.

*Please note that for TIKKA T3X/T3 prefit barrels, we request that you provide either a headspace measurement, or send us the action.  We’ve cut hundreds of tikka prefit barrels and have found up to .006″ of headspace variance.

Measuring headspace for TIKKA:  This measurement needs to be taken with a calibrated and verified depth micrometer (calipers are not repeatable).  With the action removed from the barrel, along with the trigger system.  Measure from the FACE of the RECEIVER to the BOLT FACE.  This is your headspace measurement, not to be confused with “Tennon Length”.  We will chamber your barrel to this measurement minus .002″ for proper headspacing with virgin brass and to allow for any headspace taken up during torquing your action onto the receiver.

This is best measured with the receiver clamped vertically in a pair of “soft jaws” in a bench vise.  Measure this distance at least 5 times to ensure a consistent measurement.  If you feel uncomfortable measuring this, feel free to send your receiver into HCA (Bolt and receiver required, trigger and bolt stop may be removed and are not needed for proper chambering).
